Every once and awhile, someone enters a town and immediately makes a splash with everyone there. This is what Gilbert Zwicker did to Silverhill. Arriving in 1948 by horse and carriage, Gilbert took up residence at Syver Lowes farm as it accommodated his horses appropriately. Mr. Zwicker was already in his seventies when he arrived in Silverhill; he made the most of the years he spent in Silverhill. Residents remember seeing wearing long-johns always when he worked his fields with a distinct limp to his walk. This limp was acquired during a dynamite accident while working on the Alaska Central Railroad. Gilbert had many stories to tell people in Silverhill as he spent much of his life travelling around North America and Mexico. He celebrated his 90th birthday at Silverhill Hall and stayed high energy until his dying day.
