Like all great things in life, they must eventually, and Silverhill Hall is no different. On October 12th, 2018, a fire broke out and burned Silverhill Hall to the ground. This was a tough day for a residence that lived around the hall, many of whom were defendants of original settlers who built the hall almost one hundred years prior. Just the day prior, volunteers were putting up Halloween decorations with a full slate of activities planned for October. It is a devastating way to end 99 years of events, laughs, tears, and hard work all in one building.

A Go Fund Me was created a few days after the fire and reached a donation amount of $1,485 showing how much this hall meant to residents of Mission and Silverdale. Unfortunately, the Go Fund Me did not reach its goal, and the hall has not been rebuilt (as of yet anyway). I am still hopeful that it is one day restored and embodies the sense of community that it had for the 99 years of operation prior.
